the wisest of words

My mom and I have a great relationship. We talk nearly everyday, or at least try to. Lately she's be feelin' the pressure of Old Man Time and retirement plans.
She said to me very plainly as I was blasting to work on Friday:

"No one tells you that you get old. They don't prepare you. No one tells you it gets harder to make friends, and then the friends you do have move away or die! Hell you shit yourself unexpectedly sometimes, and then you die too!"

Thus spake Kathy Moore on the facts of life.

pokemon 4 lyfe

you try telling me pokemon are stupid while staring at an oddish.

you can't cause that shit is too cute.

i was totally that kid that you would give your fruit roll up to at lunch so i would draw pokemon on your notebook.

sorostitute season

note the neon workout clothing that shouts for male attention as mating season lasts about two to three days a week; most commonly friday and saturday evenings.

during the winter months they will shed these articles for spandex "jeggings" and "ugg boots" paired tastefully with an oversized, professionally tattered, Urban Outfitters sweatshirt.

brace yourselves.

ushering in new times

somethings are sad.

but not as sad as the end of summer.

as labor day sweeps itself under the rug of obscurity you can feel the relinquishment of summer. fall beers have been appearing in the grocery store, and students have begun to settle into their homework load. the rest of us soldier on. it's just sad.

and so we're waving good-bye to a beautiful summer by sharing some beautiful moments from our friend dillon.

dillon works in the whole foods service world. (the movement, not the store)
this makes for some golden awkward moments.

he shared a few of his more candid moments with us one afternoon.

the juicing incident

while working in the deli one day, dillon began to make his rounds by pouring himself a cup of coffee. a shopper had been struggling with preparing a cup of water, as this is apparently hard. while dillon was stirring some sugar into his liquid cup of life; the customer lost all control of their lemons, and drizzled the side of dillon's face with lemon juice.
as dillon slowly began to realize he had just been assaulted with a drink garnish, the two kind of turned a bit and caught slight acknowledgment what had really just happened.
they said nothing.
both turned and walked away slowly.
they never looked back.

moments frozen in time

prior to his lemony incursion, dillon had been working in the freezer. as he was stocking out the milk and eggs a shopper opened the freezer only to make full on eye contact.
they held each others gaze through the lines of dairy product while the customer reached for a gallon of milk, and then slowly shut the door.
he was momentarily the mystery man in the freezer.
it was pure, unadulterated customer service.

we've been closing a few chapters on the summer that had promised endless expanses of freedom. we're excited to say that we peaked a little ahead, and there are (hopefully!) some exciting things in the works for the near future! (starts with t and ends in shirts.)

p.s. for jordan who made a request!
